I wonder if these are the days people are talking about when they say the dog days of summer are here?

I understand the dog that crawls under the porch where the ground is a little damp and in the shade and stays there all day. I do not have a porch to crawl under but I find the coolest spot in the house and stay there all day, if I can. The garden is about gone. There are some peppers that need picking but they may not get picked. Our Rector could not find a porch or some other cool spot so he went to Colorado for several weeks. I guess some people are upset he did not ask them to go with him but they are just looking for a cool spot also. You would think if they were worried about the heat they would be in Church every Sunday. You would also think they would be there just to hear Fr. Ben's message. I find them to be very enjoyable in addition to giving me a different insight to the readings for the day. His 53 years in the Priesthood shows in many things he does but he is at his best when he is teaching and that is what he does from the pulpit. I will never understand why church attendance drops off when the Rector is out of town.I would think that these same people who are looking for a cool place during these hot summer days would also be looking for a cool place to spend eternity. If no one has asked you to go with them to a cooler place, come to Church Sunday and Fr. Ben will tell you where to go and how to get there.

Last week I wrote about the Young at Hearts Group and said that they met on the second and fourth Thursday. That was wrong, I should have said the first and third Thursday were the meeting days each month.
