Last Sunday Fr. Bill preached about how good seed and good ground were necessary to get a good crop.
This Sunday he preached on the story of the wheat and weeds. That woke me up from my usual morning nap as I was raised in wheat country and have been around weeds all my life. If not in the wheat field then in the garden. I was glad to find out that the Bible says the weeds are the Devil’s work. My garden is full of weeds at the present and now I know who to blame. It all makes sense as the Devil must have brought his climate with him because it is as hot as h--- in the garden now. It is about burnt up so I will let him have it for awhile. Need to start planning a fall garden soon so I’ll deal with the weeds then. I know I have mentioned the Young at Heart group that meets the second and forth Thursday of each month in the Parish Hall, but I want to do it again. If you are not coming you are missing out on a lot. We have a couple who drive over from West Monroe to be a part of this group. They do not come every Thursday, but they come enough to be called regulars. In addition to the great fellowship we also have a great meal of a very wide range of foods. This past Thursday a box of peaches showed up and everyone got at least a dozen peaches to take home with them. That may never happen again but if you do not show up you will not know if it happens again or anything like that. Can you be bribed? Herb |
