Last week Fr. Bill wrote about how you needed good seed...
and it needed to be planted in good ground if you wanted good results. One of those seeds came to the end of its growing season this past Friday and services were held in the church on Monday to celebrate his life. That seed was named Frank Godwin. He grew tall, bore much fruit, and provided much shade for a lot of others. He was a man who always had a smile on his face, laughter in his mouth, and love in his heart. One of our members made the remark to me Monday that Frank had the most perfect disposition of anyone he had ever met. I remember when he told me about being handicapped in his deer hunting because Gladys Hartgrove was praying for the deer. The smile on his face and the twinkle in his eye as he told me the story will be hard to forget. I have many memories of Frank, some dealing with problems at church, but I never saw a look on his face except a smile. He was a real blessing for any Junior Warden with a problem. Frank and Bill Craig could and would solve any problem you had around the church property. The last time I was Junior Warden those two, along with Jim Norris, made my life a lot easier. I will always remember Frank as a man who loved his fellow man and was always ready to help him. He believed in feeding the hungry and clothing the naked, and he also believed you could have a lot of fun doing it and he did. It is times like this that I am at a loss for words except to say go in peace Frank, you earned it. Herb |
